Nuclear

the word “nuclear” is not foreign term in our society. We have heard this term many times in our life because of its role that had shocked the world, especially in Japan. When we hear “nuclear”, what do we think ?  dangerous ? bomb ? damage ? disaster ? or something hazardous ? . it is posible if we have a mindset like we have already mentioned above. Because nuclear was first known by people as an atomic bomb that destructed Hiroshima and Nagasaki at World War II incident on 1945 ago. Therefore, many people refer nuclear to a weapon which kill many people. Furthermore, many people scared about the exsistance of nuclear. Actually nuclear is not always harm us. Nuclear can be used for helping our task. So, our daily activity become easier, effective, and efficient.

Nuclear is one of the study in physics major, namely nuclear physics. In general terms, nuclear is anything related to or using nuclear or energy (power) atom . everything about nuclear, is related to atom. Atom is the smallest part of an object that composed of protons, neutrons, and electrons. Nuclear is the core (or maybe we can say nucleus) that composed of protons and neutrons only. And both of them are composed of several smaller particles, namely quark.

In the development of nuclear, it has played important role to develop science and technology in many fields. The most commonly known applications of nuclear physics are medic, industry, agriculture, energy, and many more. The application of nuclear in medical field is a rontgent by X-ray. Rontgen is a detection method using X-Ray to detect the disorder on many organ in human body, such as abdomen, heart, kidney, ureter, skull, and etc. While the applications of nuclear on industrial field are : 1) industrial radiograph (undamaged test) which use X-Ray or Gamma Ray. 2) matter preserving, such as wood, craft, and etc. Nuclear application on agrigultural field is to produce quality seeds by radiating with radioactive ray Cobalt-60. And nuclear application on energy is as a nuclear power plant or in Indonesian we can say “Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Nuklir (PLTN)”, that is a termal power generator using one or more nuclear reactors as a source of heat.

So, we can conclude that beside nuclear is damaging, we as a human beingwith our intelligence supposed to exploit nclear through science and technology.
